Claims portal for SSP Rebate Scheme due to coronavirus close on 17th March
Claims portal for SSP Rebate Scheme due to coronavirus close on 17th March
The Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme (SSPRS) closes for coronavirus (COVID-19)-related absences after 17 March 2022.
Employers have up to and including 24 March 2022 to:
submit any final claims
amend claims they’ve already submitted
The scheme is available for employers with fewer than 250 employees.
The maximum claim per employee is two weeks at the statutory sick pay (SSP) rate of £96.35 per week (£192.70 in total). The employer's claim is also capped at the number of employees in its PAYE scheme on 30 November 2021. You can claim for multiple pay periods and employees at the same time.
The claims portal will close on 24 March 2022. From 25 March 2022 normal SSP rules apply, which means employers revert to paying SSP from the fourth qualifying day their employee is off work, regardless of the reason for their sickness absence.
You must keep the following records for 3 years after the date you receive the payment as HMRC may need to check the records if there is a dispute:
the dates the employee was off sick
which of those dates were qualifying days
the reason they said they were off work ― if they had symptoms, someone they lived with had symptoms or they were shielding
the employee’s National Insurance number
